On June 9th, Czech Republic midfielder Michal Sadilek’s participation in the European Championship in Germany was ruled out by the national team’s spokesperson due to a biking accident resulting in a leg injury.

Sadilek, 25, had previously appeared in the 2020 Euros and boasts 24 international caps with one goal to his name.

Despite his recent injury, Sadilek led the team and played the entire 90 minutes in a commanding 7-1 victory over Malta in a preparatory friendly on Friday.

“The unfortunate biking incident caused a leg laceration,” stated the national team’s spokesperson on Sunday, lamenting the setback.

Expressing disappointment, Czech Republic coach Ivan Hasek acknowledged Sadilek’s significance, emphasizing his role as captain against Malta.

Ahead of their Euros 2024 campaign, Czech Republic is set to face North Macedonia in a friendly on Monday before their Group F opener against Portugal on June 18th.
