Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus, with interest intensifying following Bukayo Saka’s recent surgery.
Mikel Arteta is said to view Kudus as a potential solution to strengthen the squad during Saka’s expected two-to-three-month absence, a significant blow to the Gunners’ season.
Kudus has struggled to find his best form at West Ham this season, partly due to being played out of position on the left under Julen Lopetegui. His dissatisfaction with his role has raised questions about his future at the London Stadium. Sources suggest that if Lopetegui remains in charge, Kudus could look to leave.
While January is notoriously challenging for major transfers, Arsenal appear to be exploring their options. West Ham insider Sean Whetstone, known for his close ties to co-owner David Sullivan, revealed that a fee of around £100 million might be enough to convince the Hammers to part ways with Kudus.
With his £85 million release clause becoming active in the summer, a winter move would require Arsenal to act decisively. Kudus, an exceptional talent, could command a significant profit for West Ham, who signed him for £38 million in 2023.
While Arsenal typically avoid panic buys, Saka’s injury could prompt an accelerated transfer strategy. Still, a summer deal for Kudus seems more likely unless the Gunners are willing to meet West Ham’s hefty demands this January.
