Newly appointed Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is eager to bring Ousmane Diomande from his former club Sporting Lisbon, according to *The Sun*. Amorim plans to implement a three-at-the-back formation and sees Diomande as a key addition to strengthen his defense.
Diomande has a release clause of £70 million, and Sporting Lisbon will only consider selling the 20-year-old Ivorian center-back if that amount is met. He joined Sporting from Midtjylland in 2022 for £6.1 million.
So far this season, Diomande has made eight starts and one substitute appearance in Liga Portugal, as well as two appearances in the UEFA Champions League. Last season, he contributed with two goals and one assist in 25 league starts and added one goal in seven Europa League starts. Amorim was recently appointed as United’s manager following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, and the team is currently sitting in 13th place in the Premier League table.
